Happy spring from Monterrey, Mexico. We’re enjoying a cooler day of 70 degrees today, after yesterday’s 100 degrees high.  Tom and I both love winter, and it’s hard not to let a little sigh of despair escape when we see the hot temperatures starting in February. It’s been a while since I’ve updated everyone, so I thought I’d just share some praises and prayer requests with you.

We’re in the swing of things with orchestra and choir rehearsals, preparing for our June concert. We’re really looking forward to the possibility of having some of our Tri-City friends here with us for that.  Everyone in our family is involved in the Music program is some way or another, and Tom, especially, stays very busy. We are actually short-staffed in the music department, and we would love to have another teacher to help share the load. Please pray that the Lord will provide someone who is qualified to teach music and has the heart of ministry. Oh, and they need to speak Spanish.

In December, our oldest daughter accepted a position with Answers in Genesis and she moved temporarily to their “campus housing” in January. Now has come the time for her to get her own apartment, so Tom and I will be travelling there during our Easter break to help her move. Please praise the Lord with us for Erika’s employment, and pray that we would have a safe, productive trip.

In February, Emelie turned 15 years old. Emelie is the only one of our 7 kids that was born in Mexico and has Mexican citizenship. Traditionally in Mexico, a girl’s “quince años” is akin to a “sweet 16” in the US, so we had a little party for her with a few of our friends. We’re proud of the young lady Emelie is becoming, and we love to see her developing her love of art, music and animals. We’re so thankful for all of our children, and we pray for them daily.

One last prayer request before I sign off. We’ve really sensed spiritual exhaustion and struggles in some of our students and staff over the past couple of years. It can be difficult to remember to focus on the Lord, and find our joy in him. Please pray that we would be a good example to our students, and that we would all be convicted to strive for Christlikeness in all we do.

Thank you so much for your faithful prayers. God is so good.

⬅️ Natalie participated in her school’s spelling bee this year. It was great to see the competitors cheering one another on, and to hear how the English level at the school has improved over the years.
